Reality TV comes alive at the Henry

May 4, 2011

Have you ever wondered why the University of Washington doesn’t host a reality TV star costume competition?

…me too. Well, as it turns out, it does. Or, at least, the UW’s very own Henry Art Gallery does. So get ready for some “Real Housewives” and “Situation”s to traipse across campus. The costume competition is just one of many activities taking place as part of the Henry’s Spring Open House on May 6. Described by Hankblog – the Henry’s aptly-named blog – as “an evening of art and antics,” the event celebrates the opening of The Talent Show, the Henry’s newest exhibit.

The open house, which kicks off at 8 pm, is $8 for students and seniors, $12 for the general public and free for Henry Art Gallery members. The event will feature live music, performances, and–you guessed it–art. Plus, there will be Wii Just Dance, and free cupcakes! And I’ll be honest, they had me at free cupcakes.

As if you weren’t already excited about attending, the Henry has also posted this gem of a video promoting the event. Worth a watch.

If anyone needs costume ideas for the competition, let me know!
